About George ~ Maltese x Shih Tzu, senior ~ Trial 3/9/16
George is a gentle little Maltese x Shih Tzu with cute perky ears and a koala nose! At the age of 12 he found himself abandoned in the pound with an uncertain future. Luckily, Dog Rescue Newcastle saved him, and what a lucky save it was! George makes friends with everyone and every animal he meets. He is terrific with people of all ages including children. He is living with 4 other dogs and gets along well with all of them. He pays no attention to chickens, rabbits or guinea pigs and he is fine with cats.
George enjoys a daily walk but it doesn't have to be a long one. He walks beautifully on lead and is perfect in the car. He is very good at night and sleeps in his own bed next to his foster carer's bed.
George needs a home with someone who is retired or works from home because he doesn't cope well with being left home alone for long periods. He would be quite content to be an only dog or to have other canine housemates.
George has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.
George is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside and to be kept safely inside when no one is home, and to sleep inside of course. He is house trained.
If you're looking for a little friend to keep you company and sit next to you on the lounge while you watch TV, and look up at you with adoring eyes, then you will fall in love with Gentle George.
For more information or to meet George, please contact Terri on 02 4944 7053 or 0419 470 910 or email dogrescuenewcastle@gmail.com. George is in foster care in Belmont, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
George's adoption fee is only $100 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. He recently had a vet check and a full dental and has no known health issues.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
