Meeko *On Trial in Her New Home*

*MEEKO IS CURRENTLY TRIALING HER NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Meeko is a thoughtful young girl who, once she gets to know you, enjoys a pat and a cuddle. She is looking for a loving home who will continue to help build her confidence and understands she is a bit shy when meeting new people.

When Meeko first arrived in foster care from Broken Hill Pound she was petrified of the world though with patience and love she’s grown into a friendly and affectionate young dog who loves being around people she knows. She still baulks at loud noises or sudden movements making her better suited to a quieter home rather than one with boisterous, young children.

Described by our vets as “sweet-natured and gentle” Meeko can also be unsure and a little scared when meeting dogs for the first time though has shown no aggression (she doesn’t appear to have a mean bone in her body), and quickly becomes friends with other like-minded hounds. She’d never been on a lead but now she loves going for walks and smelling anything that catches her nose as well as learning to sit and wait before crossing roads. Meeko is a fast learner who quickly picked up “sit” and “drop” and is getting the hang of “shake” and “down” as she does jump up a bit when she gets excited. She knows her name and has good recall when off-lead unless she’s distracted by a scent then she can be a bit stubborn – must be the Shar Pei in her!

Meeko loves chewing on toys but hasn’t quite mastered a game of fetch instead she’ll chase a ball though once she gets to it she’ll turn around and race back to her human empty mouthed!

Loveable Meeko would suit a home with another friendly dog if you’re at work for most of the day as being almost 11 months old there’s a good chance she’ll get bored and up to mischief. She sleeps outside at night though enjoys an indoor / outdoor lifestyle and is well-behaved inside. She travels well in a car and also on the back of a ute. Daily walks, secure fencing, bones to chew on and toys to play with in a loving forever home will make Meeko very happy indeed!
