About Toby
**PLEASE READ HIS PROFILE THOROUGHLY **
Toby came into my care after he was surrendered to us for unfortunate
reasons. After a short time with me, we have discovered he has fear
aggression especially towards males. He'll growl and sometimes nip, at
their shoes/ankles or hand if they pat him without warning. But he has
never bitten anybody. He is just protecting himself from further harm
:(. I have worked hard with Toby to overcome this with care, love,
building trust and some behavioural training, so he can begin to feel
that not all humans are bad. He has come along way and with the right
family this will only continue to improve.
Therefore, we are only looking for experienced dog owners that have
a gentle, calming nature, patience and an understanding of some
dog behavioural skills. Other than that .... He's just almost perfect
and I adore him.
Health : No known issues. - just to maintain his teeth by giving him a
dentastik everyday.
Weight: Could loose a few more pounds
Temperament :
Wants his own space so you need to respect that. Very sensitive
nature, he doesn't like loud noises but getting better. Hates humans
fighting, protective loyal, not overly affectionate but loves praises,
pats, laying beside you on the couch or bed. Very assertive. He can be
a little grumpy when you're in his face (eg. doesn't like close eye
contact) or handle him too roughly. A Quirky personality - after he
finishes eating he loves to rub his face in his blanky and roll around
😀. Or he won't walk on grass if it too wet. (Precious).
He loves his massages, tummy tickles, being chased, tug of war, lots
of gentle kisses, chews. He's a bit grumpy in the morning (who isn't )
but with a gentle wake up massage and joining you with a toast for
breakie, his ready to roll.
Dogs: he's now been fully socialised and happy to meet and play after a good introduction.
Cats: not sure but doesn't act aggressive if he sees them on the street.
Children: will need full supervision with very young children because
of their lack of understanding of boundaries.
Toby is fully housetrained, sleeps inside, house proud -respectful of
your furniture etc. he understands normal human conversation. I speak
to him as if he was a young child.
He has been sharing his foster home with two other foster puppies and
this has revived his younger years. It's such a joy to see.
Toby is fine if you're away for a few hours so long as he has access
to outside to toilet. Bonus: Toby watches TV yep he actually watches
and knows the program that's on by its music if he's in another room.
Eg. Bondi Vets theme intro and the chocolate M&M commercial -obsessed.
So when I leave the house I leave the TV on.
I can't praise him enough with his walks (which he looks forward to
with tail wagging and two legged dancing) he's brilliant with lead on
or off, commands recalls, memory of streets and parks. Commands like
'wait' 'stop' 'come' 'ok cross' or 'don't cross'. Sometimes he'll stop
walking and look at a certain direction. because he wants to go to a
particular park that day.
I'm sure he can get himself home on his own :))
I believe he will continue to flourish if he's part of a home with
dog/s and a good size garden he can run roll around in. A family that
has the time to take him for his first love -daily walks, drives in
the car/outings
Toby now has the world at his feet and he deserves to spend the best
years of the rest of his life with happiness, security, safety and no
more abuse. Just to be the best dog he can possibly be.

interest and we'll call you for a chat.
