Blake needs a very active owner or family. He walks well on a lead and is friendly to dogs he meets on his travels. Blake absolutely loves the water! Beach and lake outings would be much appreciated by Blake. He loves his ball and all he wants is for you to throw it over and over, and will need someone who can be firm with what is acceptable and what isn't acceptable when play time has finished. He can become quite demanding for play time and his new family will need to work on this with him. He also loves tug of war games!
Blake is ok to be left at home but needs to be exercised a lot when you are home. Good fencing is a must. Blake isn't destructive and he doesn't play or chew things that aren't toys, but he will actively search the house for toys to play with. He would be perfect for flyball or agilty.
Blake is friendly with dogs but can be protective over his toys and can display resource guarding aggression. If he was to be rehomed with a dog then it's best that the dog has no interest in toys or the new owner would be willing to work on training with Blake to overcome resource guarding. Blake has lived with cats but has become frustrated at his inability to find a toy and has lashed out at the cat. He would do best in a home with older children as he can become excited when you are picking up a ball and will go for it while it's visibly moving whilst in your hands. He has no resource guarding issues with humans.
