Buddy ~ 1yo loving Cattledog X (on trial 13/10/16)

Meet Buddy! a 1.5 year old Australian Cattle Dog X boy. He is a gentle dog with gorgeous markings and a beautiful temperament.

This boy is pure love, nothing describes him better. He is eager to please and only asks that he be loved in return. If I pop down the street when I come home, he is peering out the window in anticipation of my return. The hugs are bountiful, his exuberance make me so glad that I have him in my life, even if it is for a short time only. I have promised this boy that we will find him the best home.

The first time I saw Buddy I was drawn, there was just something about him and I immediately put my hand up to care for him. Have I been blessed since!

You’d expect having Australian Cattle dog in his blood, Buddy would be always on the go but he’s not. He is just as content to have a nanna nap beside you as to go outside, although I think he has spent most of his life outdoors so this new indoor experience (especially in this weather) is pretty good in his books. I believe he would enjoy more physical activities like running in the park, at the beach, etc. I don’t think he had ever experienced anything other than being in a back yard.

Buddy needs to be allowed in the home, definitely to sleep and during the day at times as well. He isn’t a large dog and he needs that human companionship. If you have another dog, he’d be happy but he is such a loving dog his presence would be such a wonderful addition in your life. He needs further and ongoing toilet training; he has come a fair way, but still has a bit to go till you can really be confident of no accidents.

He’d suit a family environment, an active couple, even a semi-retired couple, he is more than content to just lay beside you – he may have to be encouraged to hop off the lounge or he may get the “walkies” bug and embrace the outdoors. He is great with children - mine are 8 and 10. I often find him laying on their beds with them while they are drawing or reading. Shift worker, part time workers or family members home during the day would be wonderful, especially if he will be an only dog. In regards to being homed with full time workers, I’m not too sure how he’d go being alone all day. Having said that, he used to spend all his time alone in his backyard so he may be accustomed to it. I am home most of the time, though I have left both dogs home in the house on occasion and have had no issues.

Ideally, no cats or the ability to keep them separate (I have a cat enclosure) would be best. He has chased the cat when given opportunity. He gets on well with my dog (a poodle cross), but he appears a little intimidated by larger dogs - though with the correct introduction he may be more confident.

Buddy is a loving and loyal dog, eager to please and would make a great addition to a wonderful family.
