About Lilly *On trial in new home*
Looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, affectionate and quick-witted dog? Do you want a new companion who will be loyal and loving? Are you interested in investing time and effort into your new dog to help them be the best they can be, do you want to see your dog blossom and grow?
If you said yes to the above, then Lilly is the dog for you. Lilly is a pure bred border collie - they are dogs known for their intelligence and athleticism and she certainly fills that criteria! And at only 18 months old she is barely more than a puppy, full of joy and enthusiasm with energy to spare and an incredibly quick mind that is keen to learn.
Lilly has tragically found herself in need of a new family because her previous owner passed away suddenly due to illness. Although members of the family would have loved to adopt Lilly, they had other circumstances preventing this. As you can imagine this was a traumatic, confusing event for a young dog and Lilly needs stability, security and structure in her life to help her be her very best.
Lilly has very nice manners around the house - she is toilet trained and does not dig, chew, or bark excessively nor does she have a history of escape artistry. Lilly's previous owner was an older lady and she is not used to small children - the ideal home for Lilly would be a single person or couple who want a dog to really work with, not one to just hang out around the place. Lilly would really benefit from on-going training or agility classes or similar, as her active mind will go to waste. She also needs daily exercise to keep her happy - she walks well on lead and is a terrific jogging side-kick.
Lilly is generally a very friendly, affectionate dog, in fact sometimes she thinks she is a lap dog and will try to crawl up on the couch and snuggle with you if she is allowed. She loves cuddles and attention and enjoys interactive games as well as training - these activities will help you build a strong bond with her and make your lives together wonderful.
In her current foster home, Lilly is living with a male border collie. She can be a bossy girl but for the most part they are great friends who play and interact nicely together. Lilly is also social with other dogs she meets out and about, so she would be fine to be rehomed with a male dog of any breed.
Lilly has some behavioural quirks that we know she can overcome in the perfect home. Upon first meeting she can be quite aloof and you need a bit of perseverance to find that adoring side of her personality, When she puts herself on her bed in the evening Lilly becomes quite protective of her space and needs to be left alone to do her thing.
We know that the perfect home is out there waiting for miss Lilly. If you think she is everything you have been waiting for, get in touch today!
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
