About Pj
PJ – 6 month old JRT x Foxy Cross. PJ is an adorable ‘diamond in the rough.' She is a strong personality who had absolutely no training or socialisation when she came into foster care. Throughout the last few weeks has picked up the basic commands such as ‘sit, stay, no & drop it’ quite quickly and is trained to sleep in a crate at night. She is becoming more relaxed and confident about being on lead in public and in an off-lead environment, she is learning the ropes on how to behave and play respectfully around other dogs, although he is a bit rough and tumble for dogs her size and sometimes when she is unsure will become a bit dominant so she needs someone who is willing to put the effort in to help her settle
Her home is her castle, and as a playful and energetic puppy, she loves running around with all of her toys and once she is worn out, cuddle up on the couch. Her toilet training is progressing but is still a work in progress with semi-regular accidents inside the house. She is able to be left alone outside during the day (with an undercover area & an enclosed kennel with blankets) however, it is a characteristic of her breed to protect her property and she has a tendency to bark for a while once she gets started. She has made a project of dismantling the cushions on my outdoor sofa but I think this could be a symptom of puppy boredom & something she will grow out of.
PJ would suit an owner who has a yard and can at a minimum exercise her twice a day and a bigger off lead socialisation a couple of times a week. She is smart and definitely has a strong personality and as such is resisting being totally obedient in her puppy stages. Training would best be approached with equal amounts love and discipline by someone who has patience, time and experience to invest in training her properly.
