About Lexi
Domestic rabbits are inquisitive fun-loving and make very appealing pets. They are social animals that with a little time and patience can be house and toilet trained. They make great companions.
Lexi is looking for a loving and nurturing home. She came in with her brother Damien and whilst they get along well they've had some scuffles due to their limited space here at the shelter. If adopted together they will need plenty of their own space. They are relatively social but do not enjoy being picked up preferring to instead relax on your lap. They'll need a gentle home where they can continue to gain confidence.
In her new home if Lexi is to live outdoors she will need a hutch and exercise outside the hutch for a few hours each day so she can enjoy natural sunlight. Her hutch should be large enough to allow her to exhibit her normal behavior while safe & secure from predators.
She will also need a balanced diet containing an unlimited supply of good quality fresh grass and grass hay (not Lucerne or clover hays as they are too high in protein and calcium) a measured daily amount of fortified pellets and a limited amount of Vitamin C enriched herbs fruits and vegetables. She must always have access to fresh clean water and my food..
Buying a pet rabbit means that you are prepared to take on a serious daily commitment for up to ten years. Children will learn about caring for others the responsibilities involved in having a pet in the household and the unconditional love that a pet will give. Parents however must at all times guide children in the husbandry of their new pet and be prepared to supervise the day-to-day care so that the pet is not neglected through ignorance or loss of interest.
