About Kai - kid, dog and cat friendly
Meet the lovely Kai
Kid, dog & cat friendly!
Med-Large Shar Pei x
10 1/2 months young and already weighing approx. 25kg
Kai is a big, beautiful goof ball who wants so much to be part of a loving home. Everything Kai does is with good intentions; there is not a mean bone in her body!
She LOVES all other dogs that she meets and is very social and is beautifully well behaved in a dog park. She is very polite with her food and not at all possessive, best of all, so gentle when taking treats from your hand.
Kai is not an overly active dog, but enjoys a daily walk and run in the park. After that, she is more than happy to laze around and sleep the day away. She is fine being left alone whilst you are at work, not an anxious dog.
Kai loves soft toys and often cuddles them to sleep at night…. She just loves to love!
She has grown up with young children, though she would be best with a family with older kids due to her size and age. At 9 months old, Kai still needs to be reminded of her size and will do well with ongoing training to ensure that she does not get too over-zealous when showing affection. Again, due to age and size, she will not be suited to the elderly.
She has lived with her first cat companion for the past 3 weeks, and though very interested in it, she just wants to be friends and never shown any aggression.
Kai was an outdoor dog for the start of her life, however likes to be involved with her family so we would prefer she went to a home where she is included in all activities and she relishes in the comfortable quiet of the indoors of an evening. She would love a doggy companion, but is fine as an only dog.
Typical of a Shar Pei, Kai can take a few days to settle into new environments and to bond with her new family, as she has been bought up to be an independent young girl, however once you have shown her some love and ear scratches, those loving eyes appear and she will soon be your loyal companion forever! (seriously, those eyes just melt your heart!)
Kai will need a patient family who is prepared to put in some extra time to make up for the training that she lacked as a pup and she responds well to positive reinforcement. She is strong, but responding well to walking with manners on lead.
Kai has all of the makings to be a terrific dog, will you be the person to bring out the best in her?
