Benji ~ On Trial 16/7/16

Benji is a 1.5 year old male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a big personality. Benji is a bit of an explorer – he loves sniffing and meeting new people and romping around in the yard. He also loves to chill out on the couch with you and being fussed over, but he also loves outdoor time with you too.

Benji is very friendly with other small dogs he meets and shows no aggression. He is scared of big dogs and he will try to avoid them. He is in foster care with a big dopey large breed puppy and it’s taken him a month to not be frightened of his size. He would suit a family with a small breed, friendly dog who he can hang out with. Benji has a lot of energy for a little chap so he enjoys a daily walk, he walks fairly well on the lead but will pull when he’s excited and when he has the chance to meet other people.

Benji responds very well to positive training techniques and treat rewards and he is great with a settling into a routine. Because he is active he would best suit a home with older kids or another dog to play with and a family who will take him with them when they go on outdoor adventures. Although he joins cuddles and relaxing, he isn’t just a lapdog so he is best suited to house with a dog friendly yard rather than an apartment. Benji was originally surrendered to us for climbing of his owners’ fence to go looking for company, so he requires good solid fencing with no gaps, and a family who will spend a lot of time with him.

Benji is an inside/outside dog and needs to be allowed inside when people are home, and to sleep inside. Although he loves to play in the yard he is not suited to being a yard only dog as he is far too social. Benji’s hair does shed quite a bit so if you are interested in a low-shedding dog, he is not the boy for you!! He does enjoy a daily brush to keep his coat shining and beautiful.
