About Angus
Canine Lifeline is proud to introduce our beautiful boy Angus. Angus is an 18 month old Golden Retriever; he is vaccinated, desexed, microchipped and heartworm treated.
Angus came into care with Canine Lifeline as the family that had recently adopted him found that he was too boisterous and ill mannered for their home and their two young children. He was so over friendly with them and their children, and so desperate for their attention that he was in danger of hurting the kids accidentally and they had become scared of him. They couldn’t bring him inside (acting crazy in the house) or take him for a walk (dragging them), and the kids couldn’t safely come out into the yard. His original home had included children so he was well socialized to them but once again he had no manners, so more and more he was relegated to the backyard. With no one training him his manners got worse as his desperation for attention increased.
When Angus arrived in foster care he was happy to jump all over who ever he could; jumping high and hard, sometimes even bear hugging his victim. Now with training he knows that jumping up is unacceptable and he’ll get far more attention waiting nicely for a pat. He has learnt to walk nicely on lead, will sit and stay, drop and stay, and can hold a long drop for over an hour. He has learned to be calm when invited into the house, and that certain areas/rooms are off limits. Angus travels well in the car and is always up for a new adventure.
Angus would suit an active family with kids, but not little kids as he may still get excited running around and unintentionally knock them over. Maybe 10 years or older. He will be happy as an inside/outside dog, spending time with his family in both locations. At night Angus would like nothing more than to come inside and snuggling up by the fire with you, but he is happy sleeping outdoors or perhaps in a laundry.
He gets on well with most dogs, though he can be pushy. Has been to doggy daycare a few times, and did well there with the other dogs. He is currently fostering with four dogs, all smaller than himself, and is learning that they may not always want to play with him. He is used to amusing himself and will play with toys; he would enjoy living with another dog of similar temperament but this is not essential if he is going to be able to spend a lot of time with his humans.
Angus is currently fostering with two cats which he doesn’t mind. He is untested with other small animals and with livestock. If you and your family feel that you might be suitable to love Angus forever, please send an email enquiry and we will forward our application form.
Medical notes
Angus has no medical requirements.
