About Kasey ~ Mixed Breed (on trial 20/08/16)
Introducing Kasey – a stunning and gentle 2 year old large mixed breed beautiful girl. Kasey loves people and loves to be near you. Her favourite thing in life is belly rubs – when she’s enjoying a belly rub she will put a paw on you to remind you not to stop! Kasey is a kind dog with a sweet and easy going temperament – she has never show any sign of nastiness towards another dog or person. She will happily meet anyone and want to be their best friend.
Kasey’s breed mix is a bit of a guess – she most likely has some bull arab or other bully breed in her, but she also has the slender waist of a greyhound. She also gets the zoomies like a greyhound! Whatever her breed mix she is sweet and affectionate and easy going so she is the best of them all! Her coat is a gorgeous glossy black and her short hair is pretty much maintenance free.
Kasey is currently an only dog, however she is playful and enjoys the company of other dogs so she would do well as a companion to another dog if you already have a friendly playful dog. Sometimes Kasey will have a burst of energy and if you pretend to try to catch her, this will send her into racing mode. She will transform into a greyhound and do laps of the yard - she is soooo fast and you can hear her claws gripping the lawn as she turns and races back the other way (**See her attached video!!). She goes so hard that the game doesn’t last long and then she’ll need a rest to recover from her zoomies!
Kasey will sit, drop, shake hands, high five and is working on "stay" and "come” – she responds well to training as she loves rewards. She isn’t a digger or chewer so it’s nice to come home to a yard that is still intact if you have been out! When on the lead, she needs to be walked by someone who is old enough to command her and guide her through distractions like other dogs as she likes to introduce herself! Like many young dogs she would enjoy a home with a family who will dedicate time to extra training, especially with obeying commands if let off lead.
Kasey’s ideal home would be one where someone is at home at night, when she can be let inside (otherwise she likes to bark at possums!) She is OK if left alone during the day when you go out or are at work. She has always been an outside dog, however she would love a forever family who will bring her inside and allow her to spend time with the family within the home. She likes to chase cats, and birds so she is best matched to a home without cats, chickens or rabbits as they are way too tempting.
Kasey would suit a home with children primary school age and up. She is very well mannered with children, however due to her size we think she is best suited to older kids who are used to large friendly dogs.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
