About Sam
Sam is described by his foster carer as 'the sweetest and most obedient dog she's ever had' which is a credit to his previous owner who sadly passed away earlier this year. Sam's story is a sad one and one which has brought tears to quite a few of us. Sam and his owner lived alone, they had each other and that was enough for them. Unfortunately his owner became quite ill and sadly passed, with Sam by his side. With no family able to take him on, Sam found himself a place in Wally's care.
Due to an accident a number of years ago, Sam lost his right eye but this does not stop this gorgeous boy from living life to the fullest. He does have a slight hearing impairment but does respond well when within earshot. Sam is such a gentle and loving soul who is now in foster care as an only dog but living quite happily with free range chickens. He has had no interest in chasing them or shown any signs of hurting them at all. The worst he's done is eat their food!
Although Sam wasn't coping well with the loss of his best friend, he is now settled and happy in his foster home and absolutely adores his foster mum. He has had some minor dental work done, blood tests and a complete vet check and is in perfect health. Sam loves nothing more than to be patted and loves to have his tummy rubbed. He communicates his needs extremely well to let his foster mum know what he wants and is fully toilet trained. He sleeps inside right next to his foster mum's bed or on his bed in the loungeroom.
Sam responds well to the following commands...'sit', 'drop', 'no', 'come', 'shake hands' and of course his name. He walks well on leash and will walk on your right side so that he can see you. Sam doesn't cope well with loud noises and retreats to somewhere quiet if he becomes anxious. He also has no idea what to do with a bone. Although his carer has tried him on an assortment of food, she has worked out that anything Sam eats which contains protein will cause him to have loose bowel motions so is now on a diet of Blackhawk dry food only without any issues.
We are hoping to find Sam his retirement home so that he can live out the rest of his years feeling loved as he clearly always has been.
Sam will come microchipped, vaccinated, desexed, wormed, flea treated and lifetime registration. He is available for adoption now and is located in Kariong on the Central Coast, NSW.
Medical notes
Sam does have arthritis and is now on Carprieve 100mg chewable tablets - 1/2 tablet/day which has helped him enormously.

Wally's Doggie Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
