About Buddy ~ Maltese x, senior boy (On Trial 19/6/16)
Buddy is a bubbly 10 year old Maltese x. He has a lovely temperament. He is calm, cuddly, playful, obedient but most of all happy. His little tail wags rapidly side to side when he is around his canine foster sister and foster carer. He loves company. He sits on command and listens to everything you say, trying to understand and please you.
Buddy loves to sit and enjoy a bone or a treat and has claimed the dog bed in front of the heater. He seems to feel the cold. He needs to sleep inside at night. He happily stays in his allocated dog bed so is no trouble. During the day, he potters around the yard and has a sniff or a sleep in the sun but is also happy inside doing the same thing.
He is not much of a barker at all and is very trainable. He is great in the car and jumps into the back seat and sits there calmly for the journey.
He is good with the 3 foster sibling cats he has been staying with but sometimes misinterprets their behaviour for wanting to play. After a word from foster mum, he happily moves on. He gets along well with the female dog he has been staying with and sometimes engages in light play but mostly just likes to follow her around and sit next to her where possible. He likes to play with people and when he’s in the mood his tail starts wagging and he jumps around trying to get his toy or chase.
Buddy has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful. He is happy to sit still on the floor while he gets brushed and I think he loves the attention. He has also been great getting baths in the laundry sink and enjoys the warm water and massage.
Buddy is an undemanding and happy man, an excellent listener and will be a loving new best friend for the right person or family.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
