Sooty ~ 7mo Kelpie X boy (on trial 10/07/16)

Sooty is a 7 month old Kelpie X boy. He is incredibly gentle and just wants to shows love and affection to his humans.

Sooty is an energetic dog and requires loads of exercise. He is learning basic commands and responds well to training. Since being in care he has learnt to respond to his name, sit and wait for dinner and he hasn’t had any accidents inside. He has started to shake hands and drop but needs more practice to get it right. He also needs more training to stop jumping when he gets excited so a family with older kids would be great.

Sooty’s favourite thing is to spend time with his humans. He loves cuddles and prefers to sit on top of you for cuddles, not next to you. Sooty gets on well with other dogs and sees them as an opportunity to play and have fun. At the moment, he sleeps in an undercover area outside with other dogs. He hasn’t shown any aggression to his inside cat foster brother and sister, but is curious and likes to try and sniff them. He hasn’t been around other pocket pets so we are unsure as to how he would react with them.

Sooty’s ideal home would be with a family who are committed to continuing his training, very energetic who will walk him (twice a day if possible), who would take him with them to socialise with other doggie friends on weekends and who can show him as much love and affection that he gives them. While he would like a doggie brother or sister, he would be ok in a home without other dogs as long as he gets loads of exercise. He does require 6 foot fences and would do best in a house with a yard that he can run around in and play. With the right environment and consistent training, he would be a great, obedient fur child.
