About Nico ~ 5yo purebred Corgi boy (On Trial 18/6/16)
Nico is a 5 year old pure breed corgi male who’s foster mum thinks has a bit of lion and wombat mixed in somewhere. He is a real little character with a lot of love to give.
Although he isn’t really interested in playing with toys or balls, he loves a play with his human foster brothers, who are 5 and 2 years old, after which a lay down with his head on his foster mum’s feet while having his tummy scratched is his idea of a slice of heaven. This can last till the postman arrives, which is the signal for him to run as fast as his little legs can carry him to the front gate to tell him off. He takes his house guarding duties very seriously.
Nico is very good on a lead and enjoys going for walks. He will stay beside the stroller, stopping every now and then to smell the roses. He has spent his life outside up until now, so we are currently working on his toilet training. He is learning very quickly as he is highly food motivated and just loves to be praised and told what a good boy he is. He prefers being outside for the majority of the time, but as he relaxes and feels a bit more secure in his foster home, he is coming inside the house more. When he is inside he likes to hang out with his 12 year old cocker spaniel house mate, who he gets on very well with.
The perfect home for Nico would be one where he would be included in the family’s activities, and allowed to be outside and inside. With a little more training and socializing with people to build his confidence, Nico will develop into a lovely little family dog who will want to settle inside and get lots of cuddles and attention.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
