About Maya ED0051
Maya is such a playful and boisterous girl with boundless energy and the desire to just have fun. She loves playing with her sibling and the resident dog on the property where she is being fostered. Maya shares her outside space with many other animals: a goat, Alpacas, turkeys, geese, chickens, two cats, a kangaroo and a Lorikeet. Maya is always under supervision when socialising with the animals but she has learned respect for all species and will eat and spend time with many of them. Being very playful she initially thought that she could chase the cats but learned respect for them very quickly! Maya is also mesmerised by the Lorikeet who whistles to her and her sibling while flying around the trees and they come running every time.
Maya would make a great family pet – she would need a home that can offer her lots of attention as she is very affectionate and just loves cuddles. Maya would also enjoy living with another dog as she is very bonded to her sibling Lulu and canine interaction is very important to her - she would enjoy a home where she is given the opportunity to socialise regularly with other dogs.
As a Kelpie X Huntaway Maya’s energy levels are high and she would need to go to a home where she is provided with enough regular exercise as she grows. She would also need a spacious safe area to play in so an active family home would suit. Maya would not like to be left alone for long periods of time and certainly as a pup would get bored very quickly so a commitment to include Maya in all family activities would keep her very happy. Maya adores water and loves nothing more than messing about in a paddling pool so, if you love the beach, Maya would be right there with you.
Maya sits and waits for her meals, sits on command and is learning to walk on lead. She has been given access to the house on occasions and has so far understood that toileting happens outside. Maya, at present, does not like travelling in the car and is often sick. This situation may improve with positive training and time but your vet may initially recommend medication.
If you are looking for an active, happy, loving and fun puppy to be the heart of your home then Maya is the puppy for you.
