About Dixie (Cat/Dog/Poultry Friendly)
Hi My name is Dixie and I had a bit of a rough start but I am the happiest most loving little girl now. I am living with 4 other dogs, a cat and chickens in my foster home and I love them all.
There are no children living here but I love to go and greet them when we are out walking and am gentle with them. I love my human foster family so much I just want to be wherever they are and to ask for pats and cuddles a lot but I am learning not to jump up and to sit and wait more patiently. My foster mum says I learn very quickly and even when I am excited and have trouble sitting still, I try really, really hard to do as I am asked. I really want to please my humans and I come really well when I am called, even when I am off the leash at the park.
I am very keen to please but I also have quite a strong personality so I will need lots of consistent, loving training and clear boundaries. I am toilet trained and crate trained. My perfect home would have lots and lots of room to run around and an older doggie companion who can help me learn my manners but who is young enough to play with me. I need to be able to come inside and be with my family especially at night to sleep. I am happiest and best behaved if people are nearby. I am a kelpie so I need a family who is energetic and will take me for long walks every day and who will teach me lots of new things because I am super smart. If I get bored or lonely by myself I will probably get into mischief but now I am really good even when I am left at home because I have lots of doggie company. I am a bit timid at times but I am going out and about a lot now, meeting lots of people and dogs and having new experiences and I am getting much more confident and trusting. I just want to be friends with everyone. Everyone I meet seems to really like me but my foster mum is going to ask lots of questions if you want to adopt me because I need just the right home.
PLEASE READ THE ADOPTION PROCESS CAREFULLY AND TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF, AS PER OUTLINED QUESTIONS. This will ensure a quicker response to your email (will respond that day).

Adoption details
When enquiring about Dixie, please give us some indication of the type of home that she would have with you. We are interested in things such as other animals (past and present), children who may have contact with the dog, whether you own or rent your home (Permission from your landlord a MUST), what opportunities for socialisation outside the home your dog would have, how much you/someone is home and most importantly, why you feel this dog may be suitable for you.
Wally's Doggie Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family.
Wyong Dog Training Club will provide 3 free dog training sessions http://wyongdogtrainingclub.org.au/ . So please be sure to utilise this awesome gift which will benefit both you and Dixie.
