About Remington (Special needs)
Remington is a Purebred American Cocker Spaniel...Remi as we call him was rescued from a Puppy Farm well over 12mths ago. He arrived into Wally's totally shut down from humans who had done nothing but betray him and use him as a breeding machine for many years. He has been de-barked and when feeling threatened/scared, he will defecate and urinate. This boy is broken and although we have shown him nothing but love and affection during his time in care, he is still very wary when humans approach him, terrified of strangers and doesn't cope well when there are lots of people in the home.
I (along with our Wally's family) absolutely adore this sweetheart, but over the past few months I've come to the conclusion that Remi needs a place to call home. There has been progress during his time in care, but it's going to take a very long time for this boy to feel comfortable with people (or it may never happen). Remi absolutely loves other dogs and relies a great deal on them in his everyday life. He will most certainly need a doggie companion in his forever home. This will be an absolute MUST when considering applications.
Please take the time to read through his profile carefully. Remi is NOT a lapdog and NOT a doggie that your kids can snuggle up to. For the first 2 months of being in my care, he had a leash attached to him at all times so that I could catch him. I would have him walk with me wherever I went both inside and outside of the home and by doing this I have gained enough trust with him where he will quite happily follow me from room to room, take food from my hand, come when called for dinner and sleep in our room on his own doggie bed. That's where it stops....once he sees you approaching him, he will either freeze if he knows there is no escape or he will run if his options are open. It's absolutely heartbreaking to see him this way and to think of what he must of gone through during those torturous years.
Remi will need a very special someone in his life. He's certainly not your average dog with some issues that are easily fixed. He is going to need someone committed, patient (lots of it), loving, tolerating of frustrating situations and someone that has the time to work with him. We aren't looking for a family environment with children and lots of people coming and going. He likes to know where everyone is in the home so he can see if someone is going to approach him. He's much more comfortable when I'm the only person home with the dogs as he only has to worry about 1 person. For this reason we are looking for a quiet home with minimal people and 1-2 small dogs. He is well accustomed to using a doggie door and uses this as an escape route to his outside world whenever it's available to use. He's more than happy to be left whilst you go to work and will eventually be happy to see you when you return!
Although he has major trust issues with humans, this gorgeous boy makes me laugh daily! He has character. He has had us all in absolute fits of laughter at times. There are so many funny stories, little quirks and progress reports that I would love to share with his new owner.
Remington will come microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and flea treated. He is located in Blue Haven and is available for adoption now. We will be extremely thorough in finding the right home for this boy.

Wally's Doggie Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family.
