About Thor ~ 1yo Ridgeback X Husky
Please meet the mighty Thor (also affectionately named Dingo Dog – because sometimes he looks like one!) This 12month old Ridgeback x Husky boy has SO much love to give.
His size and ‘serious’ face might make you believe he is tough and rough but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Thor loves a snuggle and is really just a gentle giant. He is still a big goofy puppy and is learning not to jump (learning quickly mind you) but once the initial excitement is over he is all lovey mush. He is currently enjoying our family of Mum, Dad, Mr 6 and Miss 4 and the company of our male 18mth old Ridgeback x.
.
He spends his days basking in the sun, playing with our dog (and any other dog he meets), playing house with Miss 4 or adventure games with Mr 6. He often patrols the fences, although happily lets our neighbours in and pat him over the fence! We have had a fair few kids over during the holidays and he still amazes us with how good he is with them. Our kids absolutely adore him. As he is still a big pup there is potential for him to knock small children over and he is the perfect height to kiss them but in our care he has only ever shown his gentle nature.
When Thor came to us he was underfed, so it’s safe to say he loves food (which should make further training a breeze). He is good at sitting for his meals and is motivated by food and lots of praise and pats. He will be an even more amazing companion with further training as he is still only a pup. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training. Thor sleeps outside with our dog (they keep each other warm) and is learning to come inside throughout the day.
He is extremely friendly to people and is always eager to meet other dogs (although he does like to be dominant). He likes to keep us in his sites. If I’m hanging clothes out, he is always standing by my side. If I’m gardening, he is laying next to the garden bed. If I’m sitting outside he is at my feet. If we are laying down; he is curled up next to us! We feel so lucky to have this boy and know he will make a fabulous addition to an active and dedicated family.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
