About Coco
Coco is a lovely old fellow who was surrendered to CRQ by an elderly lady, Sadly she was moving into a residence where she could not take him. So we transported him all the way down from Rainbow Beach to come into foster care in Brisbane.
He was dearly loved by his previous owners, possibly a little too over-loved because poor Coco is hugely obese - weighing in at almost 9kg. He is on a strict diet and is not very pleased about this, but his committed foster carers are sticking with it so that he can lose some weight. Coco must shed a few kilos for the sake of his health and his joints now and in the future.
Coco is a gentle and social guy, who gets along great with the other chihuahuas in his foster home. The cats in his foster home don't like him much, but Coco is never worried by them and he would never be aggressive.
Coco is toilet trained and an easy going dog. Once he gets a tummy rub he just can't resist and will beg you for more and more tummy rubs for days! He would be the perfect addition to any home, he is such a pleasant and gentle fellow with many years ahead of him.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Coco came to CRQ weighing about 9kg - this puts him in the catergory of Morbid Obesity and dramatic weight loss is needed. He is on a restricted calorie diet and needs to be adopted by someone who will be committed to helping him lose weight.
Coco has a Grade 1 systolic heart murmur which at this stage requires no further treatment. He had severe dental disease when he came into care and will have a dental scale and polish to make his teeth clean again.
Coco has reduced eye sight, his right eye has significant cataract formation and left eye has nuclear sclerosis present. However he doesn't let this slow him down and he is a very happy old guy who likes to trot around and socialise with other dogs!
