About Bonnie and Bullwinkle
Bonnie and Bullwinkle were surrendered as a pair - they have been together since they were puppies and need to be adopted together. This gorgeous pair are half-siblings, from two different litters but raised together from the start. They are incredibly bonded and love to be together.
Like all small dogs they can often find new people and situations a little overwhelming. Given time and gentle encouragement they do warm up and become the ultimate little snuggle buddies. Bonnie is the brave one who will swap kisses for food and Bully (as he is called in his foster home) is a little more hesitant and reserved. They have been in foster care with a preschooler and 2 other small dogs without any dramas however they do enjoy being the centre of attention. Given their shy nature a home with several noisy children or boisterous puppies would not be suitable for them.
They are happy and affectionate little dogs who are used to a quiet life and would very much like to find another settled and quiet home to spend their twilight years.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
When they came into care, Bonnie had not been desexed and she has several mammary masses and a lot of fluid and cysts in her uterus. Our vets desexed her, resolving the uterine cyst issue, and removed her mammary masses. She also needed a hernia repair. She has healed well from this big surgery and we do not expect her to have any further complications now she has been desexed.
Bullwinkle has a grade 4 heart murmur. We are currently trialling heart medication for Bully, this will be reassessed in a few weeks.
Both Bonnie and Bullwinkle required dental surgeries, and are feeling much better now that they don't have any rotten teeth in their mouths!
