About Mikey ~ Jack Russell Terrier (on trial 18/06/16)
Hi everybody, meet Mikey! A loving, happy, healthy and surprisingly energetic 7 year old, male, Jack Russell Terrier whose only wish is to make you his best friend.
Being an active dog, Mikey would make the perfect companion for a single, couple or family as he is great with kids. He enjoys long walks and will let you know in the morning he is ready to go! He gets on well with other dogs after a controlled introduction and is currently living with a female Staffy x and a Chihuahua (who is quite the grumpy old man) he knows both their limits and will happily play with the other dogs as long as they will allow. He would enjoy a play mate but with adequate attention he would also make a great only dog.
Mikey is primarily an indoor dog but does also spend long periods of time relaxing on the deck. He sleeps in a crate but would just as much love to be snuggled up in bed with you.
Mikey is learning basic commands: sit, stay, bed and down using treat rewards and he's picking it up very well. Mikey walks nicely on the lead but will occasionally stir when other dogs approach, more so when he is with our female dog.
Mikey is a low maintenance dog in regards to grooming. Just regular baths, which he is well behaved for, occasional brushing and nail clipping. Little dogs like Mikey usually live to around 15 years so he is only only middle aged and still have half his life ahead of him.
Mikey is initially a little timid with new people. We expect this is due to his earlier life, but if you give him a good belly scratch you will win his heart and he will wriggle to ensure its everlasting. He really is just a big sook.
If you feel you can provide this beautiful boy a loving forever home then please contact Renay on 0405 799 737 or email renay.lane@gmail.com. Mikey is located at Fletcher, 2287 (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Mikey's adoption fee is only $200 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
