Larry

Introducing Larry the Lab! This lovely, old boy is just about ready to find his new family who will be willing to continue to care for him in his golden years.

Larry is a 10 year old Lab x Mastiff and is an absolute delight. He is a happy-go-lucky boy who is still energetic and full of life. His age hasn’t seemed to slow him down much at all and if it wasn't for his grey beard, I'd think he was much younger. He loves his morning walks, long games of fetch and lots of belly rubs and cuddles.

Larry is doing extremely well with his training. He has learnt to follow on walks and is now reliable off leash, as he just walks right next to/behind you; he comes when he is called, has learnt to return the ball during games of fetch, he sits when asked and remains calm during feeding times. He does have quite a stubborn personality towards those who fail to assert themselves and will therefore be looking for a strong leader who isn’t afraid to tell him ‘no’, so his admirable behaviour can continue.

Larry is currently living with two young children and loves to follow them around and try to receive pats and cuddles from them. Although he is extremely gentle and does not jump, simply due to his size he will need to be supervised around younger children.

Larry is currently in care with a number of other dogs and has behaved beautifully when interacting with them, especially the younger pups. He loves a good play and wrestle and is very tolerant of all the dogs jumping on him and trying to lick his face. Larry would benefit from a doggy friend to play with and keep him entertained during the days, and to snuggle up to at night. He currently likes to sleep in a dog pile that consists of two 5 month old Kelpie pups, a six month old Great Dane and himself, all cozy right at the bottom.
Larry has also met and been around sheep and chickens. He can get quite excited, but settles as soon as you tell him to do so.

Larry loves being around people and being apart of the action, however he is fine to be left alone and just sleeps until you return. He is a very loyal boy who has so much love to give and just wants to make you happy.

**Although it has never been observed while Larry has been in my care with multiple puppies and little dogs, he does have a noted history of aggression towards smaller dogs, and therefore will be carefully considered before being adopted by a family with small dog breeds.
