About Charlie ~ purebred greyhound (On Trial 28/5/16)
Charlie the Charmer is a graceful, gorgeous Greyhound. At almost 4 years of age he is a tall, strapping young lad. Charlie is a loveable, brown eyed big baby. He would suit a home that can provide him with LOTS of love and affection. He is a very affectionate boy who loves daily cuddles and snuggles. Charlie gets along very well with other dogs and is very gentle with children. He enjoys supervising when the kids play outside by lying in the sun and occasionally putting his head up to make sure all is well.
When Charlie 's not soaking up the sun during the day outside he loves to be inside where he can be part of the family. When he is inside he displays typical Greyhound behavior, in other words being a lounge lizard. Greyhounds do lay around a lot. It might be the lounge, the rug, a bed. When he's happy and relaxed he will show you this by rolling on his back and stretching his legs out-also known as "roaching", another Greyhound characteristic, and a very funny one I might add!
Greyhounds have very short hairs so it is important to understand that during the colder months Charlie must wear his jacket when it's cold. If you are wearing a jumper then Charlie needs to wear his too. He will also need to sleep inside at night.
When Charlie is excited and ready for a play he will show you the famous Greyhound zoomie! Greyhounds are sprinters and show bursts of energy. He bolts around the yard at full speed for a few laps then, well, as Greyhounds do, goes and lays down. Greyhounds are also affectionately known as the cats of the dog world. They may be quick as lightening when they run but their personality is quite the opposite and gorgeous Charlie is no exception. He has such a placid, gentle nature and you could almost say he loves to be lazy!
Charlie still loves a walk though and is a real gentleman on the lead. A 15-20 minute walk every second or third day is what Charlie needs to keep him healthy and happy. He wears a muzzle and martingale collar when he walks (all Greyhounds must wear a muzzle by law). However, Charlie will be undergoing his Greenhounds assessment very soon and once he passes he will no longer need to wear a muzzle.
If you're looking for a very loyal, affectionate and loving companion then look no further. If you're ready to open your home and heart and want a dog who loves to be with you then Charlie is the dog for you.
