About Charlotte
I was surrendered to Off The Chain because my owners couldn't continue caring for me. My rescue recently had entropion surgery done for me to correct where my eyelids were rolling into my eyes, scratching them and hurting me. I was blind when I first arrived, due to swelling. I have recovered quickly from my surgery and now my beautiful eyes can finally be seen by the world and I am free of pain.
I am very friendly and affectionate. I love my trips to the local dog park and get along great with other dogs. I like to chase balls and Kong treat dispensers keep me happy during the day while my foster carers are at work. Despite spending so much time blind, I have got great social skills and am learning to be confident now. I have been an absolute delight since entering Off The Chain. I haven't met cats yet but I am good with kids. Are you my new furever family?
Medical notes
What is entropion?
Entropion is an abnormality of the eyelids in which the eyelid "rolls" inward. This inward rolling often causes the hair on the surface of the eyelid to rub against the cornea (outer part of the eyeball) resulting in pain, corneal ulcers or corneal erosions.
How is entropion treated?
The treatment for entropion is surgical correction. A section of skin is removed from the affected eyelid to reverse its inward rolling. In some cases, a primary, major surgical correction will be performed, and will be followed by a second, minor corrective surgery later. Two surgeries are often performed to reduce the risk of over-correcting the entropion, resulting in an outward-rolling eyelid known as ectropion. Not all dogs require a second surgery however.
My adopters need to be able to tell if further issues arise with my eyes. Generally most dogs will squint, hold the eye shut and tear excessively. If it is necessary, it is up to my new family to do my second surgery. My rescuers are hoping I won't need it, but there is a small chance I will. You can see some of my before, during and after photos, in the photos on this ad. The difference is incredible in how I look and the smile I had when I was healed!
At the moment I am enjoying a type of biscuit called 'Holistic Select' as I do have some food allergies. My rescuers are still trying to find out exactly what it is, that makes me itchy and puffy. They think perhaps sweet potato and rice. While I am in foster they will keep trialling and try to pin point it. However for now, Holistic Select agrees with me and is a very good quality food meaning I look and feel my best! (I also poop small amounts!). There is a picture of what I need in the photos section of this ad.
Adoption details
There is a pre-adoption questionnaire that you can fill out to express your interest in one of our pets. Please message us to ask for one. Then we can meet up in a park or at your home to decide if this is the right pet for you! If you have other pets it would be ideal to bring them with you.
Adoption comes with a one week trial to make sure you are the perfect fit for each other and there is a contract for you to sign so you know we are all covered. Everyone is vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and desexed for adoption.
