About Bess ~ American Bulldog (on trial)
Bess: 2 year old American Bulldog. For the many lovers of the pure bred American Bulldog, Bess is a young dog who's fallen on hard times during her life but her gentle, nurturing soul always shines through. Bess is ideal for a family with children and she'd be the perfect companion for a family who wants a loving pet, who is always up for a pat and has fairly good house manners.
As Bess is determined not to let anything like a missing eye get in her way, she loves to have fun and get involved in all the family activities. Being playful and loving, Bess is excellent with children but would prefer to be an only dog with the lion’s share of attention. This girl is a real clown and sleeps like a dead cockroach in the sun, loves to go in the car and bush walks. While she will roam widely, Bess always comes back when called.
Having noted Bess’ good manners, she is still known to jump and may be better suited to a family with older children. Although Bess is good on a loose lead (when there are no distractions), she can pull a little when she becomes excited. Toilet training was a breeze and Bess has no problem sleeping through the night. Clicker training was also enjoyable and beneficial and she coped very well, patiently waiting on her mat with a Kong when it wasn’t her turn.
Bess would suit a very active family, as she loves to run. Would most definitely suit someone wanting a running companion, or could run beside a bike. Not being an escape artist, Bess would prefer to break INTO the family home to be with her humans. Her new family will need to keep a close eye on her as she will try to steal things off the bench in the kitchen.
With her smooth coat that can easily be cared for with just a bath and the occasional brushing, Bess is very low maintenance. Bess is one of those rare dogs who doesn’t have a problem with storms, but feels the cold and will need a good coat.
If you feel you can provide this deserving dog with a loving, permanent home, please contact Nora on or 0418 402 150 or email: dogrescuemudgee@gmail.com. Bess is in foster care in Mudgee, NSW.
Recently released from the pound to Dog Rescue Mudgee, Bess is looking for a permanent home. Bess is de-sexed, vaccinated, free of fleas and worms, microchipped and lifetime registered. Her adoption fee is $300.
Medical notes
Bess' eye situation has been monitored by the local vet who was happy that it wouldn't give her any trouble. She can sometimes have trouble with depth perception, e.g., tries to jump over something and misjudges it. Other than that, this doesn't cause her any problems.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
