About Tekee (Dog/Child Friendly)
Meet Tekee a gorgeous, female Siberian Husky, born on the 26th of December, 2014.
Tekee is in foster care in Kincumber, on the Central Coast.
FOSTER HOME ENVIRONMENT :
1. Living with kids: Yes. Four of them, aged 7-13.
2. Other dogs: No. Tekee could be homed with a male dog, if introductions are done slowly, but Tekee can be dominant around other female dogs.
3. Pocket pets/other animals: Yes. Chickens. There is a picket fence seperating them but she hasn't shown major signs of trying to get in to them.
4. Where does she sleep: Mostly outside. Sometimes in the laundry. She loves to lay in the cool dirt under our sunroom.
PERSONALITY:
1. Food aggression: No. She is easy to pat while eating and takes treats from palms. Sits and stays until she is told she can eat.
2. Dominance with other dogs/dog friendly? She is the only dog in the house. However, has been friendly with other dogs met on walks. Has never growled, cowered, or shown signs of anything other than playfulness.
3. Playful: Very much so. Loves to play and initiates it as soon as you join her in the yard.
4. Favourite toy: She loves ropes to play tug-of-war, and balls. Will fetch for ages, but not as good with 'drop it'.
5. Fears: Cowers when we grab the broom. Originally scared of storms but seems less so now.
6. Likes/Dislikes: Loves walks, even more so if you run. Loves to dig, which is particularly prevalent with not enough exercise. Loves belly rubs or tummy scratches.
TRAINING:
1. Walking on lead: Pulls strongly at start of walk. Not sure if this could be trained out of her due to her breed. We get her to 'stop' at every road crossing. The older 2 boys (11 and 13) are able to handle her for walks. She is too strong for the younger two 7 and 9) until further into a walk.
2. Basic commands: She sits with both verbal and signed cues. Mostly stays with both verbal and signed cues. Terrible recall (common with huskies). When excited, it takes her quite a few goes to listen, so needs further work on these.
3. Formal training: None that I am aware of.

Adoption details
When enquiring about Tekee, please give us some indication of the type of home that she would have with you. We are interested in things such as other animals (past and present), children who may have contact with the dog, whether you own or rent your home (Permission from your landlord a MUST), what opportunities for socialisation outside the home your dog would have, how much you/someone is home and most importantly, why you feel this dog may be suitable for you.
Wally's Doggie Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family.
Wyong Dog Training Club will provide 3 free dog training sessions http://wyongdogtrainingclub.org.au/ . So please be sure to utilise this awesome gift which will benefit both you and Tekee.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
