About Flynn ~ On Trial 11/11/2016
Hi I’m Flynn and it’s nice to meet you! I’m a 1 year old, very handsome purebred blue Smithfield Cattle Dog with a stumpy tail. My coat is plush and soft like a teddy bear and I’m such a striking colour that people comment on my handsomeness where-ever I go! My fur is a gorgeous silver-blue which combined with my rich orange eyes give me a suave and sleek look which matches my suave personality. I’m slightly bigger than medium size which means that there is more of me to love!
If you are a cattle dog fan then you'll adore me – I am active and smart and full of personality! I love to run, my mum currently takes me running and I can keep up well for up to 10km’s – so if you’re an avid runner then I’d happily run with you daily so we can keep our figures trim together! I walk and run well on the lead when we’re out and about, and I happily join my mum and her friends at the local café for a puppy-chino after a walk or run too. To say I’m super intelligent is an understatement. As with many cattle dogs I’m sometimes too smart for my own good!
I love rewards and I’m very people focused which means I respond well to extra training. I have great eye contact when watching you and listening to commands. I’m still an adolescent so I sometimes forget my commands when we are out – but that’s normal for an energetic pup like me who’s interested in all the sights and sounds in the big wide world! As I get older I’ll become more sensible (maybe or maybe not!!). I can sometimes be a little shy when I meet new people, but once the ice is broken (especially if you give me a treat) I will enjoy your company and will become your loyal, loving and committed friend
I’d love a home with a couple or family who will not only physically challenge me with running, walking and activities, but who will also mentally challenge me with games, advanced training and giving me “work” to do. If you have a big yard or live on acreage then I can stretch my legs and pretend that I’m a working dog with important chores and tasks. I’d also suit a tradie as I really bond well with men. If you’re a jogging tradie then you are very high on my wish list!!
I live with another cattle dog cross called Maggie and she is my good friend (most of the time – you can’t pick a woman’s moods, right?). Maggie can be reactive to other dogs whilst we are out walking which I’ve copied off her. So because I’ve picked up her naughty habit of barking at other dogs, I’m best as on only dog as it can take me some time to get used to dogs outside the family. However, if you are experienced and confident with my breed and you have a big yard or a lot of land for us to run on then I’ll probably be fine with another friendly young dog to hang with. I’ve had further training with a trainer to assist with doggy socialisation, so I’d benefit from a confident owner who will continue with positive and reward based training. With commitment to my training I will grow into a social, well-rounded and confident adult
I live with two children under 10 and I’m very good with them. I can be a tad jumpy when excited so I’m best suited to slightly older dog-confident kids whom I won’t accidentally knock over when playing. I enjoy chewing on toys like rope toys, but I’m not a fan of squeaky toys at all –the squeaky noise is way too much for my sensitive hearing! I’m a bit of a sensitive guy in that respect. I also enjoy car trips so I’d suit a family or couple who drives a lot. I love swimming and frolicking in the lake – I enjoy water so much that I'll even jump into the fish pond to splash around and cool off on a hot day
If you would like to find out more about me then please contact Jo on jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com (preferred) or 0427 695 104 (outside business hours). Flynn is located in the Hornsby area, 2079 (northern Sydney)
Flynn's adoption fee is $350 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
