About Remmy
This little boy had a bad start to life, and for those that missed being part of his journey, we'll try and catch you up! Remmy's previous owner saw that Remmy had malocclusion, a painful dental condition where his front teeth didn't align (either genetic or from a poor diet.. we suspect the later). As his teeth grew, they had nothing to wear down on, and he was slowly and painfully starving to death. Instead of his owner doing anything remotely responsible, the outcome for Remmy was to be kicked out of home.
People on the street would pick him up, and knowing where he lived, return him. But eventually, one kind person who thought she was returning a lost bunny to grateful owners, basically had the door closed in her face. Some nice vets took Remmy in so he wouldn't be on the streets, and trimmed his teeth so he could eat again. He then came to us, where our dedicated specialist vets operated to remove his front teeth permanently.
Remmy has been dosed up on love, returned to a normal weight, and, with a heavy heart we have to admit that it is about time we started looking into the possibility of him finding a new family. Although, it breaks our heart, this boy would definitely be a keeper if I didn't draw the line somewhere.
Remmy's past is just that, his past. It really doesn't define him, as he hasn't let some shoddy owners destroy his trust in humans. From the day he arrived, this little snuggle-bun has been a confident, out-going man, who thinks he's on top of the world. He isn't about to let anything get him down, there are too many pats to be had! He oozes and melts as soon as you reach out and massage his head and ears. If he hears you coming, he's at the door! He definitely expects to be the center of attention, and with those looks, how could he not be? He uses his litter tray really well, is in love with his food. In fact there's only one thing he doesn't like, and that's being picked up. But he will tolerate it... he just doesn't like it. Especially if he thinks it means playtime is over. In that case, it's the "try and catch me" game.
The only thing that makes this boy "special needs" is the fact that all his vegies need to be cut up into mouth sized portions, so he can pick it up with his gums. Once he has it in his mouth, he has no problems munching away with his molars. He is even happy to eat his hay, although we do tend to make it shorter for him, around 10cms. As we removed the incisor teeth completely, there are no long term effects or unique ongoing care. He is just a happy little bunny, who is extra special.
We are in no rush to say goodbye to this fella. If you can provide him with the best home in the world, feel free to e-mail porsche@porschesrescue.com and request an adoption enquiry form.
We will consider indoor, free range environments for Remmy, where he can continue to be spoilt and loved, and the center of someone's life. One of the best parts is, you wont be able to blame Remmy for any chew marks in the house! He is guilt free, and the perfect house mate.
Medical notes
Remmy comes desexed & vaccinated.
