About Sammy ~ 11yo Shih-Tzu boy (On Trial 24/5/16)
Sammy is a cute 11 year old Shih-Tzu boy. He is a lovely and well behaved gentleman who likes snuggles and cuddles.
Sammy loves his walks and is very agile. He likes to play with his toys and he gets along well with other dogs and also cats. He is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and to sleep inside. He is actually a bit spoilt and likes to sleep on the bed. Sammy is toilet trained and behaves well inside.
He would be best suited to someone who is home a lot and where he could have a companion. He is ok with older kids so long as they are gentle with him. Sammy was very scared when he first came into care and could be testy when frightened. He has come a long way since then with a lot of love and care.
Sammy has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.
For more information or to meet Sammy, please contact his foster carer Anita on 0424 176 260 or email anita.waters@me.com. Sammy is in foster care in Swansea, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle) and is not available for adoption interstate.
Sammy’s adoption fee is $100 and includes desexing, vaccination, treatment for fleas and worms, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
