About Sage
Please note: Sage's new home will have another doggy friend who is calm and not too boisterous.
Sage is a wonderful girl looking for some special people to call her own. She has had a difficult start to life, but with care, in that brilliant way that only dogs can do, she is starting to come out of her shell.
Her carers are seeing Sage's gentle personality shine through. She is eager to please and loves to learn, loves to play with toys and her foster siblings.
Let's not try to gloss over this, Sage has been let down quite badly by the human race. Understandably, she is nervous around new people and very reliant on her "number one" person. In particular Sage is wary of men when they are on their own and would be best suited to a home with a retired couple with a gentle man or with a single woman. Sage will need company with her people/person most of the time.
Sage is working hard with her foster carer to overcome her fears. Sage can be startled easily when she is exposed to a sudden or loud noise. When this occurs she needs time, space and verbal assurance to understand she is safe. Sage has almost mastered house training. She uses the doggy door and her new home will have one.
Sage is a lovely soul, who needs an inexhaustible supply of TLC, and possibly a calm and wise doggy brother or sister. Preferably her doggy friend will be female with a gentle and playful character. That would suit her perfectly. Do you want to a part of her journey?

All dogs that come into the care of Victorian Dog Rescue are tested for heart worm.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer a six-week full refund, free assistance for six weeks for any issues, and a lifetime takeback policy with a fifty percent refund of the adoption fee, and of course an invitation to our adopters’ Christmas party.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you too as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
