About Dixie (11) & Bat (9) ~ senior pair(on trial 2/5/17
Meet Dixie and Bat! These two delightful middle aged pups are said to be Mother and Son and have been together for probably the last 8 years or so. They are obviously quite attached to one another. The female, Dixie is aged about 11 years, the male, Bat (or Batty) around 9 years. These are not large dogs.
Dixie weighs 5.7 Kgs. She measures 34 cm from chest to rump and stands 32 cm at the shoulders. She has an age related partial hearing loss but otherwise enjoys good health. Her disability does not appear to impair her lifestyle.
Batty is the larger dog and weighs 8.2 Kgs. He measures 40 cm from chest to rump and stands 36 cm at the shoulders. Both dogs enjoy boisterous good health.
These are two small mostly tan dogs of probably very mixed bloodlines. Dixie does display traces of perhaps some Chihuahua characteristics, Batty would be more difficult to identify.
They are both well-mannered and possess good social skills. They are very friendly toward other people, to kids, to other dogs both large and small, and to cats (Yes, cats).
“Accidents” are unknown. They are “toilet trained” and observe a high standard of personal cleanliness. Dixie regularly grooms Batty who appears to enjoy this attention and will often present himself to his mother for her “to wash behind his ears” etc.
Although essentially inside dogs, they do look forward to and enjoy their regular daily walks. They are experienced walkers and it is a pleasure to be with them on their excursions.
Dixie is a chronic ball chaser (and returner). She can be very persistent at times. Both are very affectionate and will quite happily accept as much TLC as you might have the time, the patience and the care to give them.
Dixie and Bat are 2 trouble-free No Fuss little dogs. They both enjoy good health. They are well behaved. They possess good social skills. They are ready now to bring love and joy into a new home.
Is that home yours?

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
