Oreo ~ Border Collie x (on trial 19/06/16)

Introducing the irresistible Oreo – who like the cookie is so scrumptious you can never get enough of him! Oreo (whose nickname is Louie) is a 4.5 month old Border Collie mix – we think he may be mixed with a Bull Arab as he has a Bull Arab’s large size and gentle temperament and soul. He ambles around the house and yard in a very chilled out fashion, he doesn’t have the craziness of a typical Border Collie puppy so we think he just might have the best qualities of both breeds!

Oreo is a big ball of puppy sunshine, he has a happy and sweet temperament and is very passive – he loves everyone he meets. He has had a rough start in life with little affection, however it hasn’t stopped him from looking to his new foster family with adoration and an eagerness to please. You just want to melt and shower him with pats and cuddles which he will happily take all day long if cuddles are on offer!

Oreo is very smart and has already learnt to sit for his dinner and he’s responded so quickly to toilet training considering he wasn’t allowed inside in his previous home. Although he acts very sensible for his age, he is still a puppy so he will need a family who will commit to further training to help him grow into a well-rounded adult dog. Because he is so eager to please and loves his food, he responds well to positive training methods (especially with cheese!). We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, socialisation, exercise, and training.

Oreo is in foster care with 2 other dogs (one bigger and one smaller) and spends all day following them both around. His foster carers work full time but being at home with his doggy pals all day doesn’t bother him in the slightest – he’s happy sunning himself on the deck next to his two new best friends or playing chasies with them around the yard whilst you’re away. Due to his affection for other dogs - we think that he would be best suited to a home with another friendly dog – particularly if you are a full time worker.

Oreo is happy to be either inside or outside as long as he has other dogs for companionship and isn’t isolated. As with most puppies, isolation is not good for them as they are so social. He currently spends most of the day outside whilst his carers’ are working but comes inside every evening for family time and for sleeping.

Oreo is quite large for a puppy so we believe he will grow into quite a big dog. He hasn’t had much contact with little children with his current carers, however due to his placid nature and good manners he will suit a family with older children, or children who are already confident with large dogs. He would also suit an active couple of any age, or a person who can take him to work.

Oreo has a lot of love to give and is keen to meet his very own forever family who will give him the kindness and affection that a sweet boy like him deserves.
