About Ruby
*** Ruby is being rehabilitated from her extreme anxiety condition. She will not be available for adoption until she is less anxious and able to live a happier life. ***
Ruby is a sweet little girl who is extremely bonded to her human. When she came into care, her seperation anxiety was so severe that she howled in distress as soon as her foster carer left the room. However, she has been in care with an experienced foster carer who is a vet nurse and has had training in dog behaviour, so they are working hard together to help Ruby overcome her anxiety.
Ruby can be untrusting of new people, but once she bonds with someone she is as devoted as they come. She would prefer a quiet life, and loves company so would do best in a home where she was not left alone all day every day.
Ruby loves affection from those she loves and always wants to be cuddled. She can be noisy when she becomes anxious, however she is making good progress.
Part of Ruby's training includes accepting treats from strangers, and this is helping her overcome her fear of unknown people. Her foster carer says she is very intelligent and learning fast.
Ruby is energetic and loves to play with toys. She is in a foster home with four other dogs and whilst she doesn't particularly like to share her things, she is making progress.
Ruby's secret habit is sock stealing and she just loves to thieve her foster mums socks and hide them in special places. She is such a character.
Ruby gets along well with children, and we think she must have been socialised with children in the past. Due to her behavioural issues, we would not feel comfortable adopting her to a home with small children, but older kids who are used to little dogs would be fine.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
