Puppies are a lot of fun they bring joy and happiness into the house no matter what they do but they also need a lot of commitment patience and can be hard work!
Puppies like all pets have a few basic needs. They need a secure yard to keep them safe it must have 5 foot fencing which has no holes or gaps in it secure gates and a 3 wall shelter to protect them from the weather. They need fresh water which is topped up a couple times a day in the hotter months as well as a good quality kibble which is usually fed twice daily. Puppies need lots of stimulation; this can be in the form of toys one on one play or going for a walk. When you are not home it is important to leave a lot of toys out for your puppy this will keep them from becoming bored and forming bad behaviours such as barking chewing and digging.
Puppies need to be started on training as soon as they get into a home environment they will need to be taught house rules obedience toilet training and lead manners. This can be a very tough and frustrating period so it is important to remain calm use positive re-enforcement and have patience.
Puppies should be socialised from a young age so take every opportunity to let your puppy have introductions with other dogs- puppy pre-school is a great way to socialise and train in a foreign environment!
