About Finn (Special Needs)
Finn's history is heartbreaking. He has suffered unimaginable neglect. Finn was abused and kept in a chook cage his entire life. His fur was so matted that his tail was stuck to his body and he had to be completely shaved when he was rescued. Finn was rescued by a lovely older lady, however she realised that he needed dental surgery and investigation for the cause of his seizures, so she contacted us and asked that we take him into care. Of course we were happy to welcome Finn the Poodle as an "honorary chihuahua".
Despite suffering terribly for his first two years of life, Finn is the most resilient and happy-go-lucky little fellow you can imagine. He is affectionate, loving and very playful.
Finn is great with kids and other dogs. He loves to be active and go to the beach! Finn even likes to swim. He loves to get lots of attention, now that he's finally discovered that humans can be loving, he would like love all the time! Finn enjoys being patted and cuddled and he even likes to sneak into his foster mum and dads bed.
Poodles are known for being very intelligent, but interestingly his foster mum has noticed he isn't as bright as most poodles. Little Finn has been known to walk into a glass door and can be a little bit dopey, but we think this is all due to unsocialisation and growing up in a chook cage! To us, it just makes him more charming and we love him more for it.
Finn's foster carers describe him as the perfect dog and they will miss him dearly once he is adopted.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Finn came to us with horrific dental disease, and rotten teeth that were unbelievable for a dog so young. Sadly, every single one of his teeth had to be removed due to the state of severe decay. However, this doesn't slow him down and he loves to eat.
Finn has had several seizures in the last few months. We are still unable to find a reason for these seizures and our vets and working with us to create a plan for his future.
Sometime in Finn's early life, he broke his foot and nobody ever bothered to treat it. It has healed abnormally, however it is too late to surgically fix it. For this reason, Finn is probably not a dog that will ever enjoy long runs or marathon exercise, but he is otherwise not too bothered by his little wonky foot.
