About Clancy
*** Clancy will not be available for adoption until he has recovered more from his past life of neglect. He is making great progress in foster care and is getting healthier every day! ***
Little Clancy was found wandering in the streets of Ipswich. He was sent to a safe shelter but no owner came forward to claim him. Clancy was a sweet old man and didn't do well in the shelter environment, so he was transfered to CRQ for foster care.
Clancy is a sweet and social little guy, he is in a foster home with several other little dogs and a household of children and he just loves everyone and is loved in return. His foster mum tells us that he is absolutely perfect.
His foster carer has a fantastic multi-story doggy castle-style kennel and Clancy loves to climb up on top and watch the household action. He is just as happy to snuggle in bed with any of the other dogs of the household, or a human if he can! Clancy loves to be on your lap. Clancy is his foster mums little shadow and loves to go everywhere she goes.
As we've gotten to know Clancy, we're not particularly sorry his owners never came to claim him, as he has suffered many years of neglect. Despite medical conditions that have been left untreated for far too long, this resilient little fellow remains positive, loving and so happy.
We are currently building him up to regain his health and when he is ready for adoption, he will be the most beautiful family member to whoever adopts him.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Clancy had severe dental disease including oral fistula's. He had surgery to correct the holes in his mouth and remove his rotten teeth and he is recovering well.
Clancy also has luxating patellas and came to us with severe flea allergy dermatitis. He has a grade 3 heart murmur. Our initial focus was on his immediate need for oral surgery, however we are working with our vets to deal with all his health issues to prepare him for adoption.
Adoption details
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/Kczrs885x4lq3N9u4mQhca
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly, Browns Plains, Jindalee or Chermside vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
