About Barney
Barney came to CRQ from a family who loved him every much, however due to an illness in the family they could no longer devote the time and care to Barney that he needed and they knew he deserved. They entrusted him to us with our promise that we would find him the perfect home. This is exactly what we intend to do!
Whilst Barney loves children and has lived with kids in the past, he can however be a little fearful in overwhelming situations so young children may be a bit much for him to deal with.
Barney has been fortunate enough to be in foster care with a great family who have been helping him to become more confident in social situations and meeting new dogs and new people. Barney loves snuggling in bed and he gets right down underneath the blankets for a cuddle.
Barney's carers describe him as the sweetest little dog who allows them to do anything to him, and he is very devoted to those he knows and loves. Barney is protective of his family which just shows how devoted and loving he is towards them.
He is incredibly intelligent and soaks up new things like a sponge. Barney is very treat-motivated and his foster carers are working hard on positive training to help him become all that he has the potential to be.
Barney doesn't like cats and is currently in foster care with several other dogs whom he gets along with fine.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Barney has recently undergone surgery on his luxating patellas and has now completed his recovery period and passed with flying colours.
