About Finn
Finn was found alone on a highway at 4 months old. 3 weeks later he was fighting for his life with meningitis. The disease meant he was on steroids and confined for an important 6 months of his life and although he recovered from the disease, it has left him with some behavioural “scars”.
Finn is a very sweet, affectionate, loving little chap who loves nothing more than being with people and being petted. He is bright, playful, intelligent and eager to please; but his bout of meningitis has made him fearful of novel things. Even familiar things can become “menacing” if suddenly there is something different and he will then bark at that thing until he is convinced it isn’t a danger.
Finn is a lovely little guy, but his most difficult problem is that because of his intermittent fearfulness of otherwise nonthreatening things, he has reactivity issues with other animals. He will get along fine with them for a while, but doesn’t seem to understand their body language well and will sometimes take an invitation to play as a threat. Without other animals around he is a happy little chap who just wants to make people happy and be with them.
Finn has alopecia so is a very interesting looking chap with a cool Mohawk of wiry hair down his back but just fuzz everywhere else. He has a Jack Russel head and a Basset body. He has been an inside outside dog able to come and go at will.
He has basic training, is crate trained and is amazing at taking medication (probably after having to take so much as a puppy) he will take pills like treats.
He has also been trained to seek out his favourite toy which is a glow in the dark rubber ball that is bigger than his head “Ballie”. Finn will happily wander about with Ballie in his mouth for hours.
Medical notes
He is currently taking Apoquel to settle rashes on his skin.
