More info:
I LOVE people and get along well with other cats, despite having been a stray and living in pretty rough conditions. I’m not a traditional lap cat, but I am very friendly and affectionate in a not-too-pushy way.
I was being cared for by a lovely elderly gentleman who sadly died. I’m now in foster care and waiting for my furever home.
I’m a carrier of FIV, the feline immunodeficiency virus. FIV is similar to HIV in humans, however it’s definitely not transmissible to people and it’s generally understood to be a less-severe condition. I don’t require on-going medication, or much additional care. I just need a good quality diet and annual vet checks. Because I have a weaker immune system, I need to be kept indoors (or with access to a cat run). If I get injured or ill, I may take longer to recover than most cats and could need a little extra TLC. In good care, I may have a normal life-span of over 15 years.
I get on very well with other cats and enjoy their company, so I could be adopted to a home with an existing FIV positive feline.
If you have any questions or concerns about FIV, my foster carer would be happy to give you more info and advice.
Medical notes
Lionel is in excellent physical health. He is a carrier of FIV, the feline immunodeficiency virus. FIV is similar to HIV in humans, however it is definitely not transmissible to people and it is generally understood to be a less-severe condition. FIV positive cats in general do not require on-going medication (Lionel doesn't) and they can live to have normal life-spans of over 15 years.
They don't require much additional care when compared to any other cat - a good quality diet, annual vet checks and a vet visit if they seem unwell.
Because they have a weaker immune system, cats with FIV who are injured or ill may have a longer recovery time and could need a little extra care to help them.
FIV positive cats need to be kept strictly indoors only (or with access to a cat run) as they can potentially pass the virus along to other cats in the neighbourhood.
Lionel gets on very well with other cats and could be adopted to a home with an existing FIV positive feline as he would enjoy the company!
If you have questions or concerns about the virus, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We at SAFE Avon Valley guarantee that every one of our pets is suitable to be re-homed. It is our job to ensure that we match our pet with it's perfect family (a bit like a dating agency).
If you would like to know more about this pet please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If you sound like a great match for each other, we will send you the foster carer’s details so you can call and make a time to view the pet.
Once you have met the pet and are happy to go further, we may require a home check. As soon as this is complete, you can then take the pet home on a two week trial. If the pet is not suitable for you, you may return it.
