Benji

Hi! My name is Benji. I absolutely adore spending time with my humans and am a fun, curious and food-orientated man. I get along with most dogs but girls and relaxed, submissive boys are my favourite. I enjoy trips to the dog park and adore riding in the car with my head out the window. I come to my name well and my foster doesn't need to leash me as I follow direction. I also love going to the water or playing in a clamshell pool in the backyard. I like children and chasing balls and will happily sleep inside or outside your home. I like to spend my days on the veranda at the front of the house - after all I am very loving and want to protect my family from unwanted intrusion! I let friends in though.

I am a very clever boy and even when my fosters 'chat' to me it's as if I understand. I don't need one word commands, it's almost as if I can follow a sentence and I definitely pick up a lot just based on body language and tone and am generally very compliant. I am not great with cats, they freak me out but I won't hurt them, I just take a long time to feel ok with them in the room. I think birds are really tasty so please don't try to make me live with chickens! I respect fences and won't jump or dig, and am used to living in town. Since coming into foster I have always lived with other dogs (in fact I have had almost ten other dogs come and go with only one other dog being the other permanent dog!) however my carers suspect I'd be just as happy in a home on my own.

So why am I here? Well, I was left in the pound and when they realised nobody was coming for me, I was scheduled to be put to sleep. No information was given on what I did that deserved my being abandoned. But I have been a great friend to the OTC crew over the last few months and have been waiting very patiently for someone to come and adopt me! Unfortunately people aren't often too interested in adult kelpies :( but I know my perfect family awaits!
