About Ted ~ Kelpie X (on trial 13/05/16)
Ted is 8 months old (approximately) and is a male, Kelpie X, however he doesn’t have too many Kelpie mannerisms and doesn’t require excessive exercise. He is also not as big as a standard Kelpie.
Ted loves attention including lots of cuddles and pats and would suit a home with another dog or someone who is home a lot as he doesn’t like to be by himself. He has had a rough start in life and will sometimes flinch when you pat him unexpectedly. For this reason it is important that his new family give him a lot of love and TLC.
Ted will happily curl up with you at night while you watch a movie and enjoys going on walks and runs. He is perfect on the leash! This little boy will definitely make the perfect companion dog.
Ted is living with 3 other dogs of different ages and sizes and is quickly learning appropriate doggy manners.
Ted is absolutely amazing with children, so soft and gentle that an 8 year old is helping with his basic training and a 4 year old can walk him. When he met a 2 year old and 4 year old he followed them around everywhere. He is a smart boy and has already learnt to ‘sit’, ‘drop’ and ‘stay’ and would benefit from further training. Ted is still a puppy but he tries so hard to please.
You’ll be pleased to know that he doesn’t bark excessively and does not dig or chew. Ted is ok outside during the day and enjoys time inside with his family in the evening. Ted would not suit being an outside only dog.
Suitability to kids:
Suitability to cats: Ted is cat safe.
Suitability to pocket pets: Ted is in a yard with chooks in a pen and is not interested in them. However he will try and pounce on them if they are out. Pocket pets would have to be in a cage or locked away.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
