About Poppy
Meet Poppy a previously adopted Wally's Doggie Rescue girl who just wants to be ONLY dog (Assisted Re-homing).
Poppy is a 2 years old, Mastiff x Great Dane (as far as we know)
Foster Home Environment
1. Living with kids: Poppy does not currently live with children, but has had children exposure in foster care. Poppy can get excited and jump up. So best to say children over 10 years old.
2. Other dogs: Yes, currently living with another rescue dog Boston – a Bull Arab cross (2.5 years old). But they are not getting along.
3. Pocket pets/other animals: No, Poppy has had no exposure to pocket pets or other animals.
4. Where do they sleep: Poppy sleeps inside the house in a crate. She would not be suited to a home where she was unable to be inside as part of the family, she gets a bit scared at night and will bark if left outside.
Personality
1. Food aggression: Poppy doesn’t like to share her food.
2. Dominance with other dogs?: Poppy is not a dominant dog, she is quite fearful of other dogs and protective of her owners. When out at the beach/on a walk she will ignore most dogs, if she is afraid she will often cry or bark, and give a warning growl if they get too close and she isn’t comfortable. For this reason it would be best that Poppy is an only dog, and goes to a household with large dog experience and a strong owner who can teach her the boundaries she needs to learn around other dogs.
3. Playful? Favourite toy? Poppy doesn’t love chasing the ball as much as most dogs! Her favourite toy is a rope toy, she will play tug of war but will need someone strong to play with her as she weighs around 40kg. Her favourite thing is empty toilet rolls, she loves to chew them. She also loves to chew dead tree branches.
4. Fears? Poppy did not have a very good start to life, she was rescued as a tiny puppy at only a few weeks old and as a result she is quite fearful. She is a nervous dog and will need someone who can give her the love and attention she needs. Poppy is scared of most men and will often bark aggressively when meeting new males, but she will cower if they come too close. Once she gets used to them and understands they aren’t a threat to her she is happy around them.
5. Likes/dislikes? Poppy is not a very active dog. She does love to have a bit of a run around but she is often fearful out on walks and seems to prefer the comfort of the back yard. Poppy loves to sleep, when inside she loves to be near you and get a tummy rub. She needs someone who can be patient with her, and teach her.
Forster care location: Port Macquarie. Poppy would be best as an ONLY dog and prefer a FEMALE owner.

Adoption details
When enquiring about Poppy, please give us some indication of the type of home that she would have with you. We are interested in things such as other animals (past and present), children who may have contact with the dog, whether you own or rent your home, what opportunities for socialisation outside the home your dog would have, how much you/someone is home and most importantly, why you feel this dog may be suitable for you.
Wally's Dog Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family.
To kickstart my training, Wyong Dog Training Club will provide 3 FREE dog training sessions
http://wyongdogtrainingclub.org.au/. So please be sure to utilise this awesome gift which will benefit both you and Poppy.
Wally's Doggie Rescue likes all of our rescues to be adopted into families that will continue their socialisation and allow their dogs inside of the home on a regular basis to ensure that they are part of the family. This is particulary so if they are to be an only dog.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
