About Monte ~ Wolfhound x (On Trial 19/4/16)
Monte (aka Monster) is a beautiful 7 year old Wolfhound X. He is ready and eager to find his furever home. Many know Monte's sad beginning, he is now ready to find a deserving family to give him his happily ever after.
When Monte first came into my care he was very nervous and often hid in the bushes and cowered, shaking in terror. Slowly he began to trust me and within a day he was the biggest sook and is such a gentle boy.
Monte has spent most of his life on a chain with little social interaction, so our first walk was daunting for him, tail between his legs and jumping at every noise.
Fast forward one week and what difference! Monte is amazing on a lead, so easy to walk and he loves his morning walk. He is great with other dogs, large and small, he has no sign of aggression toward animals or humans, Although he is very timid around males.
Monte will be suited to a family where the lady of the house is heavily involved in walking him and settling him in, eventually he will start to trust males in the house. He just needs time and patience (No aggression toward men, but definitely fear). He wants to be loved and in return you will have his complete devotion.
The first couple of nights Monte did howl on and off throughout the night, this has decreased over the past week, with no howling at all for the last couple of days, I'm confident that it was just due to uncertainty. He has always been an outside dog but has really enjoyed joining the family indoors for short periods of time.
For more information or to meet Monte, please contact his foster carer Pauline on 0411 446 675 or email pauline.chapman@ymail.com. Monte is in foster care in Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
