About Chicago ~ Kelpie X ~ Puppy (on trial 15/04/16)
Introducing Chicago! Our gorgeous 10 week old, female, Kelpie X bundle of cuteness!!
Chicago doesn't recognise her potential for a modelling career, so it took her carer well over a week to find a suitable photo for her adoption listing. She much prefers to spend her time rolling around with her sisters (also available for adoption) and is always the instigator of playtime. She also enjoys cuddling up to her foster brother, a full grown border collie, when she's burned up all her playful energy for some down time and a nap.
During the day Chicago is an 'outside' dog, but she would not do well if there was not another canine friend to keep her company. If you have an older, similar sized playmate for her this would be favourable. At night she sleeps inside with her sisters and foster family and only wakes up at the first sight of a human. Otherwise, she continues sleeping. You'll be pleased to know that Chicago is also not big on the idea of barking.
Chicago doesn't have a favourite toy - but enjoys her rope toy the most when there's someone on the other end of it. She loves a good challenge, no matter the size of her competitor. She also enjoys a diet of dry food for breakfast, wet food for dinner and treats in between (chicken necks and meaty bones).
Due to Chicago's breed and potential size she will need a decent sized yard with secure 5-6ft fencing. Rural fencing cannot be considered. In the early weeks of her adoption she will also need someone who is home a lot to help her settle in.
Chicago is approaching an age where she will start responding to training, but this is a difficult feat with the distraction of her siblings. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.
As Chicago is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens at this time because she'll need to be returned to one of our vets for desexing when she's 4 or 5 months old.
For more information or to meet Chicago, please contact his her foster carer Angela on 0403 053 626 or email angied_83@hotmail.com. Chicago is in foster care in Raymond Terrace, NSW (half way 30 minutes from Newcastle) and is not currently available for adoption interstate.
Chicago's adoption fee is only $500 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
