About Debbie (the diva!)
Little Debbie (D389) lost her eye after she was attacked as a tiny pup by a larger dog.
Debbie is seeking an owner who will cherish her and help ensure the rest of her life is much better than the tough start she had.
Debbie has been in foster care for approximately 1 month so we have come to learn a lot about her. She is a diva who loves for things to be all about her. She loves cuddles, belly rubs, playing, chewing on her Kong and snoozing on the couch. She is going extremely well with her toilet training and has no "accidents" during the night. She still has accidents when excited or when out of routine (as we would expect for her age).
Debbie can sit on command, stay (most of the time), shake hands, wait for food, fetches and returns a ball. She is a smart girl who has lapped up the training provided by her foster carer.
Debbie loves to play with other dogs, and loves cats (but plays rough with them).
Routine is very important for Debbie and we expect she will be hard work for a while until she learns the routine of her new home. She is in the process of being crate trained, which has helped address some of her anxiety.
Debbie responds well to consistent and firm, gentle guidance. She does not respond well if she is yelled at or if she feels threatened.
Debbie will thrive with an owner who can continue her training and socialise her in a wide range of environments. She will also thrive with a social canine companion who can help address anxiety issues by providing companionship. We suspect that Debbie may have been removed from her litter a little too early, which could have caused her anxiety to develop.
Debbie does not seem to notice that she is missing an eye and gets on with life with all the vigour, enthusiasm and joy of any pup her age.
Debbie's adoption fee is $350 which helps cover the cost of her health check, vaccination, flea and worm treatment, desexing and microchipping.
If you have questions or think you might be the right match for Debbie, please send an email with details about yourself and your home environment to lydia.ward44@outlook.com.
Medical notes
Debbie's eye removal will not affect her health in any way. Her new owner will need to help Debbie protect the health of her remaining eye and treat any issues promptly.
