About George ~ Shih Tzu (On Trial 3/4/16)
Hi, my name is George. I’m a 9 year old (approximate), male Shih Tzu who is looking for a home where I can be a big part of your life, because I am at my happiest just being with you.
I came into care after I was surrendered to the pound. I was not microchipped and I was in poor condition, until my Foster Mum took me in and gave me lots of TLC. I am now happy, healthy and ready to find my forever home.
As my age was unknown I have been registered as a 9 year old, but my Foster Mum thinks I could be a few years younger. I live with three other small doggy friends and we all get along together fabulously. I also live with Kitty the cat. We do like each other but sometimes I can’t help myself and I chase him for fun.
I love human company so I would make a perfect companion for someone who is home most of the time.
During the day I like to go on daily walks and spend some time outdoors. I’m also happy just to follow you while you go about your day and snuggle on the lounge while you watch TV. I’m well behaved so you can take me anywhere you go. I love rides in the car and enjoy going places.
At night when I go to bed I am very well behaved so my Foster Mum allows me to sleep on her bed where I stay all night.
I am loyal, friendly and gentle, and If you think we can be best friends please contact my Foster Mum because I would really like to meet you.
Note from Foster Mum, Karen: George is a lovely little man who you cannot help but fall in love with. He is fully house trained and walks well on a lead. He will need to be an inside companion as he can get a little anxious if left alone. When he is anxious he will howl. He has improved a lot and I feel in time this will stop once he is settled in a forever home where he is loved and feels secure. Although he likes the company of other dogs he would also suit a home without any because human company is more important to him. George has dry eye so he will need eye drops instilled three times a day to continue to keep his eyes healthy.
For more information or to meet George, please contact his foster carer Karen on 0419 229 201 or email ksluyter@exemail.com.au. Name is in foster care in Nords Wharf, NSW (Lake Macquarie, 45 minutes south of Newcastle) and is not available for adoption interstate.
George’s adoption fee is $200 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
