About Evelyn
My name is Evelyn,
I need a special kind of person to become my new best friend. I could really use a foster carer who can just focus on helping me get over my fears, I find it too hard to recover in a rescue house where there are always animals running around.
I started life as a kitten that someone dumped and I got pregnant at 6 months old. My children are all safe an well but I've never stopped being scared from my time on the streets.
I'm going to have to ask for your patience as I get used to you. I may never quite get to being some cartoon-like cuddle kitty.
I was thinking, a quiet retired couple, maybe one nice cat to be my friend. Someone who is home a lot and prepared to keep me indoors for quite a while so I get used to the place - I'm not kidding when I say it could take a while. It needs to be that sort of special kind of home, I won't do well with less.
I don't photograph well, I always look scared. I think a part of me is often on high alert so I probably don't make it easy for anyone pointing a camera at me. So - sorry about that.
Truth is I have not had an easy start to life. Bought as a pet I was quickly dumped and abandoned. They didn't bother to microchip me.
I was about 6 months old when I was found hiding out in some good peoples' back garden. By then I was already pregnant though. I had four kittens and with a little help from a human friend, I did a damn fine job of raising them.
Now that I'm safe and desexed, and my kittens are old enough to be rehomed I'm ready for my own life to begin. I just need a place where there isn't the pressure to be someone that I'm not. Somewhere peaceful with low stress.
I don't mind occasional patting, but I freak out if the contact is too close or too sudden. So please be patient with me and I will learn how to trust. It will just take some time for me to get there on my own terms.
Are you that person?
Medical notes
Evelyn is desexed, microchipped, wormed and vaccinated. She has no medical issues.
Adoption details
All animals are adopted, never sold, and an adoption contract is required in each case.
We generally bring the animal(s) to you and reserve the right the inspect the housing and garden at this time. That marks the beginning of a 30 day trial adoption period.
We are committed to supporting you throughout the life of the animal you adopt, so we are here for advice or assistance where possible. We want you and your new family member to have a long happy life together so we will do what we can to ensure this.
We invite you meet Evelyn first before we start the process. She is a wonderful cat but needs a special person to be her friend.
Everyone at New Life For Animals Rehoming Centre is an unpaid volunteer, so please be lovely to them when you meet them.
