About Sasha
Sasha is a beautiful girl with a special story
(see the "A Bad Start for Sasha" story below)
After being found abandoned, thin and too weak to move she was taken in by some big hearted members of the community and nursed back to health. Due to her under nourished frame, her bones were weak and a slip on a wet surface lead to Sasha having one of her rear legs amputated. The loss of her leg has not stopped this girl, she is loving her new pampered life and is always on the go.
Sasha loves kids, other dogs and is good with cats. She is thought to be a Dane x due to her merle colouring and stature.
"A Bad Start for Sasha"
Sasha was lying on the side of the street when she was rescued by good samaritans. Firstly Chantelle and Tegan took her into their nearby house to give her water and food and start removing ticks. Then Jessie picked her up for the trip to the vet. She had been belted with sticks by some monstrous kids and was so weak from severe malnourisment she wasn't even able to stand up. The emaciated four-month old pup was also covered with ticks and would almost certainly have died where she lay if not for the intervention of the three young ladies who together paid for her subsequent vet bills.
She was rushed to the vet and Gillian did everything she could to save her. After spending some time on a drip, Sasha was slowly given nourishment to build up her condition and strength. She was then taken home to be cared for until she returned to health.
Unfortunately, her hardship wasn't over yet as she slipped down some steps after rain and broke the femur in one of her back legs - probably a result of her weakened condition. The break was serious and an orthopaedic surgeon was required but Len was away.
Sasha was taken to another vet who decided to amputate her leg and so yet again Sasha had to draw on her reserves in order to overcome this next hurdle which had been thrown at her. This beautiful girl is truly a survivor and through all this she has remained happy and loving. Dogs can be incredibly forgiving.
Sasha has now come into the care of PHC and we are looking for a very special home for this amazing girl.
